This study analyzes the history of the establishment of the GMIT Imanuel Lendeiki Ndao congregation in the Rote Barat Classis and its contributions to the development of historical theology within the ministry of the Evangelical Christian Church of Timor (Gereja Masehi Injili di Timor, GMIT). Employing a qualitative historiographical method, this research reveals the significant role of “Jumat Teacher” (Evangelist) in ministry and education, as well as the flexibility of service structures that incorporate local community empowerment in Ndao Island. The study highlights the inclusivity of the congregation in welcoming and collaborating with individuals from outside the island. Education is utilized as a mission tool to enhance literacy and quality of life, while the church’s collaboration with local government in economic empowerment activities demonstrates a synergy between faith and practical action. This research contributes significantly to the documentation of the congregation’s history and the development of academic potential within the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, while also promoting culturally and contextually based research programs at Research and Society Service Department.
